Line 2 Connections
Procedures Use the steps in the table below to perform the Line 2 Connections:
Step Action Reference
1 Clean and then connect fiber assigned to 2A OA IN to an
optical power meter. Use Test point 1S. Figure 10-4
on page
10-22
2 Clean and then connect the other end of the jumper
above to the LGX location.
3 Select an OA IN LBO based on the measured power and
the number of wavelengths (channels) present. LBO Selection
Procedures
4 Install the appropriate LBO in 2A OA IN connector if
necessary.
NOTE:
For Single OA applications (no receive OA), there
will be no LBO used on the ODU. Connect the
jumper to the ODU and proceed to Step 6.
5 Connect the jumper to the 2A OA IN connector.
Requirement: The 2A OA FAULT LED shall stop
flashing within 1 minute.
6 For single OA applications, place a 5dB LBO in the input
port of the TLM circuit pack in position 2A.
7 When finished selecting the attenuation for the receive
OA, the APSD must be ENABLED at the transmitting
NE for safety purposes. Enter the
SECURITY.Enter.System command at this time to
ENABLE the APSD feature. See Danger
above.
