Network Element Startup and Provisioning
Background
Introduction This section describes procedures to:
n
Install software into the SYSMEM circuit pack of the WaveStar
TM
OLS 40G
Network Element
n
Install circuit packs into the Network Element
n
Perform basic provisioning of the Network Element so that installation
testing can be performed
NOTE:
It is assumed that the installer is familiar with the personal computer and its
use as a CenterLink Console Manager. If instruction in this area is needed,
refer to the R7 Software Release Description C109074484 for information
including: performing software installation, setting up a PC for use with the
WaveStar OLS 40G, and logging in to the system using a CMC (CenterLink
Management Console) PC. More information is also available in the
WaveStar OLS 40G User/Service Manual (365-575-387).
General
Considerations Note the following before starting:
n
Disconnect the office alarms from the Network Element before performing
any tests. Reconnect the office alarms after completing the testing.
n
Required equipment is given in Section 1 of this document. Essential
equipment for this section is: one personal computer (PC) with CMC
software for use as CenterLink Management Console and connecting
cable.
Tools, Test Sets,
and Accessories The following equipment is required to complete the procedures in this section:
n Wrist strap connected to the wrist strap ground jack of the user panel for
ESD protection.
n A CD-ROM of Release 7-WaveStar OLS 40G network software and CMC.
n Personal computer for use as CMC.
