Both lines must connect between the same two locations. At Central Office 2, if
one line is equipped using half the shelf to connect to Central Office 1, then the
other half of the shelf cannot be used to connect to a different location (Central
Office 3). Refer to Figure 2-6. This means that two shelves would have to be
equipped and only half of each shelf will be used.
With the use of Release of 2.1 in 2-fiber systems, the requirement shown in
Figure 2-6 on page 2-6 is no longer banned. If a Dual Facing Shelf is used in
Central Office 3 with each side facing a different office, this configuration is
allowed. Refer to Figure 2-7 on page 2-7.
