Installation Manual

Connecting SONET/SDH Systems to WaveStar OLS
40G

System Verification

SONET/SDH/1-Gb
Ethernet to
WaveStar OLS 40G
Verification

Step

Action

1

Momentarily remove the fiber from a SONET/SDH/1-Gb Ethernet
transmitter.

Requirement: Verify the SONET/SDH/1-Gb Ethernet receiver at the
other end FAULT LED begins flashing [Loss of Signal (LOS) alarm] and
the WaveStar OLS 40G has an optical channel loss of signal for the
wavelength disconnected.

2

Reconnect the fiber to the transmitter.

Requirement: The receiver FAULT LED shall stop flashing and the
WaveStar OLS 40G optical channel loss of signal will extinguish within
1 minute.

3

Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for all transmitter/receiver pairs equipped.
