Procedures
Perform the following steps to final test the OTU/OTPMs:

Step Action Reference
1 Obtain an appropriate signal from the associated
SONET/SDH transmission equipment or a SONET/SDH
test set. Verify with an optical power meter that the
source is within the input specification of the OTU/OTPM
(–27 to –11 dBm).
2 Connect the signal to the input of the first OTU/OTPM to
be checked. Connect an optical power meter to the
OTU/OTPM output using a fiber jumper with appropriate
connectors.
Requirement: The output power from the OTU/OTPM
Code shall be between the minimum and maximum
power specified in Table 9-6 on page 9-42 and the fault
LED shall be OFF. Table 9-6 on
page 9-42
3 If the 506B OMU is being used, the incoming channels
must be balanced. Connect the output signal of the
OTU/OTPM which still has the test set on it from Step 2
to the correct OCHAN IN port of the OMU. Connect an
optical power meter or optical multi-wavelength meter to
the OMU OUT port.
Requirement: The per-channel output power of the
OMU should be -21 dBm.
If the Requirement is not met, adjust the LC LBO on the
OCHAN IN port of the OMU.
