C o n f i g u r e   O S P F   Re f e r e n c e   Ba n d w i d t h  

By default, OSPF calculates the cost of the interface as per the interface 
bandwidth.  For  example,  if  the  bandwidth  of  one  Ethernet  interface  is 
100M,  the  cost  is  1.  The  cost  of  OSPF  interface  is  got  by  using  the 
interface  bandwidth  to  divide  the  reference  bandwidth.  The  default 
reference  bandwidth  is  100M  and  the  interface  bandwidth  depends  on 
the  bandwidth  command  in  the  interface  configuration  mode.  To  modify 
the reference bandwidth, use the following command. 

 

auto-cost reference-bandwidth 

This  command  is  used  to  modify  the  reference  bandwidth  used  to 
calculate  the  OSPF  cost.  The  no  format  of  the  command  is  used  to 
recover  the  default  reference  bandwidth.  The  default  reference 
bandwidth used to calculate the cost is 100M.

OSPF cost is not configured and adopts the default value.

The  management  distance  means  the  reliability  of  the  route  source  or 
the  priority  level.  Usually,  it  is  an  integer  from  0-255.  The  bigger  the 
value, the lower the reliability, the lower the priority.
