This  command  is  used  to  configure  the  OSPF  area  as  the  stub  area.  By 
default, it is the common area. The no format of the command is used to 
delete the configuration of the stub area.

The  stub  area  is  not  configured  and  it  is  the 

common area. 
 

 Note 

When  configuring  the  stub  area,  the  area  number  cannot  be  backbone 

area, that is, the area number cannot be 0. 

 

The stub area does not accept type-5 LSA, that is, outer LSA. 

 

The command must be configured on all switches of the stub area so that 

the neighboring relation can be set up between switches. 

 

area default-cost 

This command is used to configure the default route cost of stub area 
or  NSSA  area.  The  stub  area  or  NSSA  area  brings  in  type-3  default 
route  and  the default  cost is 1.  The  default value can  be modified via 
the  command.  The  no  format  of  the  command  is  used  to  recover  the 
default value.
