LSAs  that  reflect  the  changes  are  transmitted  on  the  demand  circuit  to 
maintain the integrality of the network. 

 

ip ospf demand-circuit 

This  command  is  used  to  enable  the  demand  circuit  on  the  OSPF 
interface.  If  it  is  on  the  point-to-point  network,  you  only  need  to 
configure the command at any end. But the switches at two ends both 
must  support  the  function  of  demand  circuit;  if  on  the  point-to-
multipoint  network,  you  only  need  to  configure  the  command  on  the 
multipoint  end.  The  no  format  of  the  command  is  used  to  cancel  the 
demand circuit.

You  can  specify  the  OSPF  interface  of  one  address  on  the 
OSPF interface as the demand circuit separately.

The demand circuit is not configured. 

 

 Note 

To  enable  the  demand  circuit  between  switches,  you  can  configure  the 

command  on  the  interface  of  only  one  side,  and  also  can  configure  the 

command on the interfaces of both sides. 

The  demand  circuit  can  take  effect  in  the  point-to-point  and  point-to-

multipoint interface mode. 

Do not  enable  the function  on  the  broadcast  or NBMA  network,  because 

the  protocol  packets  cannot  be  suppressed  validly  on  the  broadcast  or 

NBMA network.

Once a device is specified to re-distribute the route of other routing 
protocol  to  the  OSPF  route  area,  the  device  is  automatically  called 
the  AS  edge  router.  By  default,  the  AS  edge  router  does  not 
generates  the  default  route  to  the  OSPF  route  area,  but  you  can 
force  the  AS  edge  router  to  generate  a  default  route  to  the  OSPF 
route area.
