Application Example

Example of Configuring Dynamic ARP Inspection

The example is applied in the DHCP environment. If the environment is not DHCP, which

means the DHCP Snooping function is not enabled on the switch, the static binding table in the

IP Source Guard needs to be configured.

Otherwise, the ARP packets of all the ports on which the Dynamic ARP Inspection functions are

enabled are filtered. The dynamic ARP Inspection function uses the DHCP Snooping function to

generate a dynamic binding table, and the table filters ARP packets and records log.

Configure Dynamic ARP Inspection:

Command

Description

switch#configure terminal

To enter the global configuration mode

switch(config)#port 0/4

To enter the port configuration mode and suppose on
the port 0/4.

switch(config-port-0/4)#ip arp inspection

To enable the dynamic ARP inspection function on a port

switch(config-port-0/4)#ip arp inspection rate-limit 22

The upper limit of the ARP rate on a port is 22 pps

To configure static binding table and bind legal MAC
address and IP address

To exit the port configuration mode
