port does not generate temporary loop; when the edge port changes from blocked status to

forwarding status, it can be realized rapidly, and does not need to wait for the delay time. You

can use the following command to configure a port as the edge port. The no format of the

command can be used to recover the default value.

spanning-tree portfast edgeport

no spanning-tree portfast edgeport

By default, the edge port attributes of a port are not set; the spanning tree automatically

checks and sets edge port attributes of the port.

When the edge port attributes of a port are set and BPDU living or filtering function of the port

is not enabled, the port changes to non-edge port again if the port receives BPDU packets

from other ports. The port can recover to the edge port only when the port is re-started.

spanning-tree link-type

The port link type includes point-to-point link type and shared link type. The point-to-point link

is the direct-connected link between two devices. If the two ports that are connected by a

point-to-point link are root ports or specified ports, the rapid transferring to the forwarding

status can be realized by transmitting

proposal

and

agreement

synchronization packets,

which can reduce the unnecessary forwarding delay time. You can use the following command

to configure the point-to-point link type of the port. The no format of the command can be

used to recover the default value.

By default, the link type of the port is not configured and the link type of

the port is automatically checked according to the full-duplex mode.

The link type of a port should be configured according to the actual physical link. If the

physical link is not the point-to-point link, but you configure the port as point-to-point link, it

may cause temporary loop. By default, the link type of the port is set as per the duplex mode

of the port. When the port works in the full-duplex mode, set the port as the point-to-point

link type; when the port works in the half-duplex mode, set the port as the shared link type.
