Steps are as follows:
Command Description
switch#configure terminal
To execute the command configure terminal in the privileged user mode to enter the global
configuration mode
switch(config)#hostname switch_1
To execute the command hostname and take the parameter “switch_1” in the global
configuration mode to change the system name
switch_1(config)# The new system command takes effect in the displaying of the next system prompt
Configure System Time
There is an independent clock system installed in the switch to record the present time of the
system. Since there is no real time clock system in the switch, every time when the system is
power-on the system clock is recovered to 00:00:00 January 1, 1970. Users can configure the
NTP service to make the system obtain the present time automatically after starts up. (For
using of NTP, please refer to Chapter 18: Configure SNTP). Users can use the command clock
to configure the present time of the system, which comprises year, month, date, hour, minute
and second. Command for configuration is as follows:

clock year month day hour
minute second
* To configure the system clock enable
The following example configures the system time as 09:36:10, November 15, 2001 by
the command clock .
Command Description
switch#clock 2001 11 15 9 36 10
In the privileged user mode, to execute the command to configure the time of the system
calendar as 09:36:10, November 15, 2001.
switch#show clock
UTC: THU NOV 15 09:36:15 2001
To display the present calendar time of the system.
The present time is 09:36:10, November 15, 2001, Thursday; By default, the time zone of the
system is UTC.
Configure Login Security Service
In order to enhance the system security, Signamax switches provide the login security service
function. Main functions are as follows:
