According to the functions, static MAC addresses are divided to the static MAC address for

forwarding packets normally (FWD), the MAC address only for sending packets to CPU, not

forwarding them (TRAP) and the static MAC address for sending packets to CPU and

forwarding them (F&T).

Filtered MAC address acts on the whole switch. When the device receives the packets whose

source address or destination address is the filtered address, the packets are discarded

directly. The filtered address is not aged forever, and can only be added and deleted manually.

Dynamic MAC address is the MAC address learned by the switch according to the source MAC

address after receiving a packet. The items in MAC address table are associated and saved

according to MAC address, VLAN ID and port value. In this way, the items in the MAC address

table are updated.

When the destination MAC address of the received packet exists in the MAC address table,

forward the packet directly. Otherwise, the source MAC address is written to the MAC address

table, that is, learn a MAC address. When the number of the MAC addresses learned by the

port reaches the maximum value, do not learn MAC address again.

After receiving a MAC address, the switch learns and records it in the MAC address table; if the

switch does not receive any other packet whose source MAC address is the MAC address

before reaching the aging time of dynamic MAC address, the MAC address is deleted from the

MAC address table.
