MESSAGE WAITING LAMP SETTING - STATION
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This service feature enables one station user to initiate a MESSAGE WAITING (MW) indication to
another. A special lamp fitted to a Single Line Telephone or that of an assigned D
term
function key, is used
for the purpose. The indication once set, can be subsequently cancelled at any time.
STATION APPLICATION
All stations
OPERATING PROCEDURE
Without prerecorded message:
To set MW Indication:
1. Lift handset to receive Dial Tone
2. Dial MW Set code
3. Dial Station Number; receive Service Set Tone
4. MW indication is set
5. Hung up to return to idle condition
To cancel MW Indication:
1. Press idle

2. Dial MW Cancel code
3. Dial Station Number; receive Service Set Tone
4. MW indication is cancelled
5. Hang up
SERVICE CONDITIONS
1. MW status is displayed by the Message Waiting lamp on Single Line Telephone or D
term
.
2. MW can be automatically cleared by talking to the Attendant or the setting station. If MW is not auto-
matically cleared, the reset operation is required.
3. The 4LCD/8LC card for MW is required to provide Single Line Telephones with the MW function.
Single Line Telephones must be equipped with MW lamps for 70VDC.
4. The MW lamping on the D
term
is selected on a system-wide basis for flashing at 60IPM or lit steady.
5. For MW Application with Digital Announcement Trunk (DAT), please refer to the Features and Speci-
fications of VOICE MESSAGE SYSTEM.
6. When the station user has been set MW lifts the handset, the station can receive special dial tone by
system programming. It reminds the station user that a message is waiting.
