DIRECT-IN TERMINATION (DIT)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This service feature automatically routes incoming network exchange calls directly to a preselected
station without Attendant assistance. Then the call can be processed by the called party. THREE-WAY
CALLING, CALL TRANSFER, etc., are handled in the same manner as any normal trunk call.
STATION APPLICATION
Not applicable
OPERATING PROCEDURE
The calling party, outside the system, dials the telephone number as usual. However, the call is answered
directly at a predetermined station, bypassing the Attendant.
SERVICE CONDITIONS
1. Bothway trunks can be used for DIT, but incoming-only trunks are recommended.
2. It is not necessary to order DID trunks from the telephone company as is required with DIRECT
INWARD DIALLING. However, care should be exercised in the application of C.O. trunk hunting.
3. If the called station is busy, that call is kept ringing until the called station becomes idle, or forwarded
to an Attendant or TAS.
4. If there is no answer at a station, the calling party will continuously receive Ringback Tone or the call-
ing party will be transferred to Attendant or TAS.
5. Once a call is answered, it can be processed by the called station in the same way as any normal trunk
call.
6. If the station is assigned to a STATION HUNTING group or UCD group, the incoming call will follow
the hunting group station assignment. If the station is in a CALL FORWARDING mode, the incoming
call is connected to the Call Forwarding target station.
7. This feature is normally utilized where DIRECT-IN service is required on a limited basis. The number
of stations thus serviced is effectively limited to the number of trunks available for DIT.
8. DIRECT-IN TERMINATION is mutually exclusive with NIGHT CONNECTION - FIXED.
9. DIT trunks can be programmed to terminate elsewhere in the night mode.
10. When the system is in the night mode of operation and the DIT station is busy, the call will divert to
TAS if provided, otherwise the call will wait on the busy station until it is idle.
11. Only one (1) trunk can be arranged for DIT to a particular station line.
