SOLENOID
See General Warning on page 1-1.
The solenoid is located on the driver side of the electrical component mounting plate.
Testing the Solenoid
See Section 21, Test Procedure 3, Page 21-12 and Test Procedure 14, Page 21-30.
Solenoid Removal
1. Disconnect the battery cables as instructed.
See WARNING “To avoid unintentionally starting...” in
General Warning on page 1-2.
2. Remove the rear body access panel.
3. Disconnect all wires from the solenoid.
4. Screw-mounted solenoid
(Figure 23-8, Page 23-10).
4.1. Loosen both solenoid mounting screws (12).
4.2. Lift the solenoid (3) up and off of the component mounting plate.
5. Slot-mounted solenoid
(Figure 23-9, Page 23-10)

5.1. Slide solenoid up to disengage the mounting tabs and remove from component mounting plate..
Solenoid Installation
1. Mount solenoid onto component mounting plate with screws (12)
(Figure 23-8, Page 23-10)
or by
engaging slot
(Figure 23-9, Page 23-10)
.
2. Tighten screws (12) to 60 in-lb (6.8 N·m).
3. Using the wiring diagram, install the wires, resistor (9), washers (8), and nuts (7) onto the large mounting
posts. Tighten nuts to 77 in-lb (8.7 N·m).
See Wiring Diagram on page 21-2.
4. Install the blue/white and light blue wires onto the small terminals of the solenoid
(Figure 23-8,
Page 23-10)

5. Install rear body access panel.
