2. Lubricate shaft oil seal (25) with vaseline and install
in pum p housing using driver (J-7017) and ham m er.
3. Place pum p housing (23) in a press and install needle
bearing (24).
4. Install key (30) in drive shaft (29) and press drive
shaft into ball bearing (27).
5. Install bearing retaining ring (26) on drive shaft (29).
6. Press drive shaft and bearing assembly in pum p hous­
ing (23).
7. Install retaining ring (28).
8. Place pum p housing (23) in a vise using soft jaws.
NOTE: When damping pump in vise, do not
exert excessive
force
on hub as this may distort
drive shaft ball bearing (27) in housing.
9. Insert dowel pins (20) in housing (23).
10. Install rotor thrust plate (19) over dowel pins (20) in
housing.
11. Install pum p rotor (16) on splined end of drive shaft
(29).
12. Install pum p ring (15) in housing on the two dowel
pins (20) with the rotation arrow on the ring tow ard
the rear of the pum p housing (23) (fig. 10).
NOTE: Arrow on outer edge of pump ring
points in direction of pump rotation (counter­
clockwise direction when viewed from the rear
of pump).
13. Install ten rotor vanes (17) in slots of pum p rotor
(16). The radius edge of vanes goes tow ard outside of
rotor (fig. 11).
14. Lubricate outside diam eter and cham fered edge of
pressure plate (13) with vaseline to insure against
dam age to seals in housing (23); then install pressure
plate in pum p housing on dowel pins (20) (fig. 12).
