10. Remove two jam nuts (9) and fiber washers
(10) from outside of housing. On inside remove
switch center screw (18). Pull out automatic switch
(17) as shown in figure 23.
11. Do not disassemble the shift fork actuat
ing lever (22), torsion spring (23), and spring wind
ing lever (24) unless necessary to replace one of
the parts. If necessary to disassemble, mount as
sembly in vise as shown in figure 24. Turn spring
winding lever (24) clockwise and pull to separate.

sembled during removal from differential housing
as described earlier in this section under "Two-
Speed Shift Unit Replacement." With the unit on the
bench, balance of disassembly is the same as Eaton
shift unit disassembly as illustrated in figures 20,
TP-8605-;
