separate drive end frame and rotor assembly from
stator assembly.
NOTE: Parts are not a tight fit and will separ
ate easily. Separation must be made between
drive end frame and stator frame, due to stator
windings being attached to slip ring end frame
assembly. Seal the opening at end frame bear
ing with pressure sensitive tape to prevent
entry of dirt and other foreign material. Also
tape bearing contact surface on end of rotor
shaft to protect shaft from accidental damage.
C AU TIO N : Do not use friction tape which
w ou ld lea ve a gum m y deposit on sh aft.
3. If any lubricant from end of rotor shaft has com e in
contact with brushes, wipe brushes clean. A non-toxic
solvent may be used if necessary to clean brushes.
4. Remove three lead attaching nuts and lock washers
(fig. 4), and remove stator leads from terminals.
5. Remove stator assembly from slip ring end frame as
sembly.
6. Remove drive end frame and bearing assembly from
rotor shaft. Note the location of spacers used at eith
er side of bearing. There is one long spacer and one
short spacer.
NOTE: Components can be electrically tested for
defects without further disassembly. Refer to
"Bench Testing Generator Components" for
procedure on checking the various parts.
