m ust be kept clean. Any bits of abrasive m aterial which
m ay get inside of the housing during assem bly will quick
ly dam age the gear m echanism . Grease and oil used at as
sembly m ust be free from dirt or foreign m atter. W hen
handling parts, m ake sure that hands are clean and that
clean cloths are used. Prelubricate all bearings, seals, and
moving parts at assem bly with proper lubricant. See L U
B R IC A T IO N (SE C . 0) of this m anual.
ASSEMBLING TOP COVER
Key num bers in text refer to figure 2.
1. Position seal back-up washer (36) in top cover over
worm bearing.
2. Lubricate w orm seal (37) and with tool (J-8 107-3)
press in to seat against the back-up washer (36). Seal
should be positioned so that the seal lip faces away
from the back-up washer (fig. 18).
