NOTE: Ported face of pressure plate (13) goes
toward pump ring (15).
15. In order to be sure that pressure plate (13) is in pro­
per place, using a 2-3/4 inches diam eter sleeve, apply

pressure to the outer edge of pressure plate only,
pressing it in to seat.
NOTE: Pressure plate will travel about 1/16
inch to seat. Do not press or hammer on center
of pressure plate. To do so will cause perman­
ent distortion resulting in pump failure.
Install two pressure plate springs (12), one on each
dowel pin (20) in pum p housing (fig. 13).
17. Lubricate outside diam eter and cham fered edge of
end plate (10) with vaseline to insure against dam age
to seal (11) in housing; then press end plate into
pum p housing (23). While holding end plate dow n in
housing install end plate retaining ring (9). Be sure
ring is com pletely and solidly seated in groove of
housing and that split in ring is near 1/8 inch diam et­
er hole in housing to perm it easy rem oval next time
(fig. 14).
18. Install flow control spring (22) and flow control valve
(21) in bore of pum p housing (23). M a k e sure hex
head screw of valve goes into bore of housing (fig.
15).
Position pressure fitting outer seal (18) in bore of
pum p housing over the flow control valve (21) (fig.
16).
