Before beginning camshaft
bearing installation, use
suitable
tool
to break
sharp corners and provide
chamfer on forward edge
of each bearing bore.

be clean and smooth to allow free movement. Check fit of
each lifter in respective bore. If lifter to bore clearance is
excessive, select new lifter from service stock to provide
the proper clearance.
CORE HOLE PLUGS
Examine hole plugs in side and in ends of cylinder
block. Sound out plugs by tapping with a ham m er. If
plugs are deteriorated due to corrosion, they will collapse
or loosen when tapped with ham m er. Defective or loose
plugs must be replaced. W hen installing new plugs, coat
edge of core hole plug with sealing co m poun d and drive
plugs in squarely.
