preempt
To preempt or become the MASTER router, permit a BACKUP router with a higher priority value.

preempt
To prohibit preemption, use the
no preempt
command.
Defaults Enabled (that is, a BACKUP router can preempt the MASTER router).

priority
Specify a VRRP priority value for the VRRP group. The VRRP protocol uses this value during the MASTER
election process.

Syntax
priority priority
To return to the default value, use the
no priority
command.
Parameters
priority Enter a number as the priority. Enter 255 only if the router’s
virtual address is the same as the interface’s primary IP
address (that is, the router is the OWNER). The range is from
1 to 255. The default is
100 .
