Noise figure measurement

Software option R&S
ZNA-K30 allows you to measure the noise figure of a 2-port DUT,
operating in its linear range.
Currently, this option is only available for R&S
ZNA26 and R&S
ZNA43.
Noise figure (or
noise factor
, if the linear representation is chosen) is an important fig-
ure of merit for system designers and eventually determines the overall system perfor-
mance of a receiver.

The general definition of the noise factor

is the ratio of the signal to noise ratio
(SNR) at the input, to the SNR at the output of a DUT. In other words, it describes the
degradation of the SNR from the input to the output of a DUT.
