DTC P1464 (MZI-3.5) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
DETECTION
CONDITION

The DTC sets when the PCM receives a request for A/C during the self-test.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
z
A/C or defrost on during self-test
z
A/C relay circuit short to voltage
z
A/C switch malfunction
z
A/C relay malfunction
STEP
INSPECTION
ACTION
1
VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA
HAS BEEN RECORDED
z
Has FREEZE FRAME DATA
been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record FREEZE FRAME DATA on the
repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR
INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
z
Verify related Service Bulletins
and/or on-line repair information
availability.
z
Is any related Service Bulletins
available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to
the available Service Bulletins.
z
If the vehicle is not repaired, go to
the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY A/C AND DEFROST ARE
OFF DURING SELF-TEST
z
Perform the "KOEO/KOER self-
test".

z
Are the A/C and defrost off during
the self-test?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Turn the A/C and defrost off. Then go to
Step 5.

INSPECT ACCS PID
z
Turn the ignition switch to the ON
position (Engine off).
z
A/C and defroster OFF.
z
Access the PCM and monitor the
ACCS PID.
z
Is the PID state ON?
Yes
The ACCS PID indicates that the PCM is
being requested to turn on the A/C. Inspect
the A/C system.

Then go to the next step.
No
The ACCS PID indicates that the ACCS
input to the PCM is low. Go to the next
step.
