DTC P0457 (MZI-3.5) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
z
Verify that all disconnected
connectors are reconnected.
z
Turn the ignition switch to the ON
position (Engine off).
z
Clear the DTC from the PCM
memory using the M-MDS.
z
Start the engine and run it at idle.
z
Retrieve DTCs using the M-MDS.
z
Is the PENDING CODE for this
DTC present?
No
Go to the next step.

Perform the "AFTER REPAIR
PROCEDURE".

Are any DTC present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

No
Troubleshooting completed.
DTC P0457
Evaporative emission system leak detected (fuel cap loose/off)

CONDITION

P0457 indicates that the initial vacuum could not be achieved after a
refueling event and the purge vapor flow is excessive (gross leak).
POSSIBLE CAUSE
z
Missing or loose fuel filler cap.

Has FREEZE FRAME DATA
been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record FREEZE FRAME DATA on the
repair order, then go to the next step.

INFORMATION AVAILABILITY

Verify related Service Bulletins
and/or on-line repair information
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to
the available Service Bulletins.
z
If the vehicle is not repaired, go to
the next step.
