Setting Up LDAP Authentication
LDAP Authentication authenticates logins through an LDAP server,
usually the same server that provides LDAP services for e-mail address
lookup and similar functions. The local administrator login is
authenticated on the controller itself, so that local admin functions can be
accessed. Other administrator users authenticated on the LDAP server do
not necessarily have the same rights as the local administrator. The local
administrator still accesses the admin functions through TopAccess.
To set up LDAP authentication:
1
Log in as an administrator using the default admin account for the
server you are setting up.
2
Click the
Administration
tab.
3
Click the
Security
subtab. The Security page opens.
4
Click the down arrow on the
LDAP Authentication
pull-down list and
select
Enable
.
5
Select either the
V1
or the
V3
radio button.
V3
is the default setting.
V1
provides no additional features beyond using the LDAP server
for verification.
V3
requires all users to login to use TopAccess on that controller
and also requires users to log in to use the Printer/Network
functions from the copier console. The login that they will use is
their login on the LDAP server.
6
Enter the
Server IP Address
of the LDAP server. This value must use
standard IP address format. This is a required field.
7
Enter the LDAP server
Port Number
. The default value is port
389
. This is
a required field.
8
Optionally, check the
SSL
checkbox to use SSL security.
