GL-10x0 Administrator’s Guide
Installing the Unix TAR File
Considerations and Limitations
This print model acts only as a filter and not as a complete driver. You
cannot modify the size and order of the printed pages.
The UNIX filters do not support the following engine-supplied
features:
Magazine Sort
Saddle-stitch
N-Up
Watermarks
Cover Sheets
Sheet Insertion
You must have root privileges to install the required files.
Linux uses the
lptap
command to send a file to a printer. Since
lp
is
not supported in all versions of Linux, use the
lptap
command
instead.
AIX supports printing using the
qdaemon
. Invoke this daemon with
the commands
lp
,
lpr
, or
qprt
. To use the GL filter, use either
lp
or
qprt
.
Supplied Components
Many of the files described in this section vary slightly between the
GL-1010 and the GL-1020 controllers. Make sure you select the correct
files and place them in the correct directories for the appropriate
controller.
net_gl10X0
: This file is a shell script installed in
/usr/lib/lp/
model/net_gl10X0
. It contains the parsing data for the controller
specific commands and generates the output code. Being a shell
script, a system administrator can modify it, if a site requires any
custom options or if other components are installed in non-standard
locations.
lpdsend
: This is an executable program called by
net_gl10X0
to
send the print file to the controller using the LPD protocol. This
program is installed in
/opt/toshiba/tap/bin/lpdsend
.
lpLinux.sh
(Linux filter only): This file is a shell script that simulates
the command line functions of
lp
. After processing the command line
options, the GL filter is invoked in the same way as a System V print
