Size Multi-axis Shared-bus Configurations
This appendix provides information and examples for sizing your
Kinetix® 5700 DC-bus power supplies and inverters in multi-axis shared-bus
configurations.
Shared-bus Configurations
You can supply input power to your Kinetix 5700 drive system from different
sources. Shared-bus configurations for Kinetix 5700 drives include the
following:
• Single 2198-P
xxx
DC-bus power supply
• Multiple 2198-P208 DC-bus power supplies (up to three are possible)
• 8720MC-RPS regenerative power supply (RPS unit)
Shared-bus Definitions
Throughout this manual, these terms are used to describe how drive modules
are grouped together.

Clusters
Groups of drive modules that are connected to the same DC bus joined by the DC bus-bars. The
maximum number of clusters in the same DC-bus group is 2.
Extended DC-bus
When 2 drive clusters are part of the same DC-bus group joined by the DC bus-bars.
