3.11 Least Call Routing (LCR)
Description
LCR automatically selects the least expensive available route for an outgoing CO call. LCR
compares the dialed digits to various tables, modifies the digits, and places the call based on
configured treatments. LCR can be configured to apply different routing based on the time of
day and day of week. In addition, LCR access can be automatic monitoring all outgoing calls
or accessed for specific CO Lines or dial codes. LCR is also applied to Memory dialing and
Off-net forward calls.
Consideration
While direct CO LCR is applied to ISDN CO, an ISDN Information message with called
party Information Element, which includes only the numbering plan and numbering type,
is sent to the network when a user dials a digit. This process maintains the network
connection.
For direct CO LCR, leading digits should be programmed to minimize the chance of dial
tone time-out by the carrier network.
