VERIFY RELATED PENDING AND
STORED DTC
z
Turn the ignition switch off, then to
the ON position (Engine off)
z
Verify pending and stored DTCs
using M-MDS.
z
Is other DTC present?
Yes
Go to the appropriate DTC
troubleshooting.

No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY CURRENT INPUT SIGNAL
STATUS
z
Start the engine and warm up
completely.
z
Access VT ACT1 (P0016) or VT
ACT2 (P0018) PID using the M-
MDS.
z
Is PID reading normal?

Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the OCV, then go to Step 6.

VERIFY TIMING CHAIN
INSTALLATION

Stop the engine.
z
Remove the front cover.
z
Is the camshaft timing mark at the
correct point?

Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Reinstall the timing chain, then go to the
next step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF
DTC P0016, P0018 HAS BEEN
COMPLETED
z
Make sure to reconnect all
disconnected connectors.
z
Turn the engine switch to the ON
position.
z
Clear the DTC from the PCM
Yes
Replace the PCM, then go to the next
step.
