DTC P2196, P2198 (MZI-3.5) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSES

Visually inspect for fuel leakage in
the fuel system.
z
Is there fuel leakage?
No
Replace the fuel pump unit, then go to the
next step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF
DTC P2195, P2197 HAS BEEN
COMPLETED
z
Verify that all disconnected
connectors are reconnected.
z
Turn the ignition switch to the ON
position (Engine off).
z
Clear the DTC from the PCM
memory using the M-MDS.
z
Perform no load racing at the
engine speed of 2,500-3,500 rpm
for 60s or more, then idle the
engine for 60s or more.
z
Perform the KOEO and KOER
self-test.
z
Retrieve DTCs using the M-MDS.
z
Is the PENDING CODE for this
DTC present?
Yes
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.

No
Go to the next step.

DETECTION
CONDITION
z
A HO2S indicating rich at the end of a test is trying to correct for an over-
rich condition. The test fails when the fuel control system no longer detects
switching for a calibrated amount of time
