It’s best to use the left side seat for this test. If you already have the rotary tool mounted, remove it, so
that a pen can be installed.
Do not use the test pen
or any other type of pen that requires significant
downward pressure for ink flow.
(4) Place the chipboard (or an alternate material) onto the mat. The purpose of this layer is to protect the
cutting mat from the rotary tool. While the test is used to optimize the
CD/ED
, it’s not unusual to need a
slightly higher setting because materials are not always consistent in thickness. Thus, it is expected that
the bit will be cutting into the layer beneath the material in some places. Use masking tape to secure
this protective layer to the cutting mat.
(5) Tape a piece of copy paper over the protection layer:
(6) Now place the material you will be cutting on top of the paper:
(7) Under
Cutter>Cutter Settings
, enter the
Surface Height
to match what was used in the online
calculator. Click on
Save.
(8) Open the
Cut Settings
window and click on
Replace Tool
. Remove the left side tool, if something is
already installed.
(9) Click on
Continue
and the left side will drop.

IMPORTANT!
At this point, do NOT use the arrow keys to move the head to a new location because
the head will raise up. It MUST be in the down position before inserting the pen.
