The default for
Surface Height
is 300 but that value can be changed to any whole number between 0 and
670. With a setting of 0, the head is at its highest location along the Z axis; with a setting of 670, the head is
at its lowest.
•
With the existing Force accessories, it’s unlikely that a
Surface Height
larger than 300 would ever be
needed. However, if inserting materials thicker than ~ 0.075” (1.9 mm), the
Surface Height
will need to be
decreased. The online calculator wi
ll indicate when this is needed by showing “
Fail”
as the test result.
•
If a change in
Surface Height
is required for the calculator test to pass, go to
Cutter>Cutter Settings
and
change the
Surface Height
to the new value and click on
Save
:
•
IMPORTANT:
Make a note to change the
Surface Height
back to 300 before using your blade holder
again for regular cutting. The settings in the Chapter 2 tables and your own recorded settings are based on
an
SH
of 300.

The online calculator is available here:

•
A few things to note about using the calculator:
Read the instructions starting at the bottom half of the table. You only have to enter two numbers: the
Surface Height
setting (found under
Cutter>Cutter Settings
) and the thickness of the material based
on your measurement. Then click on
Update
at the bottom.
If you need to lower the
Surface Height
, try 200 first and then continue dropping by 50 until the
calculator indicates “
Pass
”.
Write down both the
Calculated ED
and the
Recommended ED
values, as well as the
Surface Height
needed to pass both tests. Remember to change the
Surface Height
in SCAL to match (
Cutter>Cutter
Settings
).
