Job Card DIAG A001 - AWS Sun-VTS Diagnostics
Chapter 9
1
APPLICABILITY
This Job Card is only applicable to V1/V2/V3 Control Stations.
2
INTRODUCTION
This Job Card describes Sun-VTS diagnostic procedures for the AWS (Acquisition Workstation)
The AWS consists of a Solaris computer, some components connected externally (e.g., modem onV1/
V2 Control Stations) and a set of subsystems. AWS diagnostics include diagnostics for the workstation
hardware, software processes in the workstation, and connection to the subsystems.
The diagnostics tests the AWS hardware components, locates any non-functional subsystem, and then
locates a non-functional FRU (Field Replaceable Unit).

Access to the Tests
You can launch all of the tests from a command window as
sdc
or
root
user (local use only). To launch a
command line window, click the title bar of the Browser window and move the Browser to expose the
background. Right click the background of the Browser screen, and from the
Root menu
that appears,
select
Service Tools
then select
Command window
.
Note:
Since the Browser is launched automatically by logging in as the sdc UNIX user at the first
console
login:
prompt, any command line window that is launched from a Browser session automatically
runs as the sdc user. Most service-based procedures use the sdc user. In cases where you are
required to log in as a different UNIX user, the instructions provide you with the appropriate steps
to log in as that UNIX user.
