ADS-UPS LINE TESTS
11-1 Internal Tests
•
Type of test:
SUN VTS
Note:
Internal ADS-UPS line tests are only applicable to V1/V2 Control Stations.
11-1-1 Internal Tests on V1/V2 Control Stations
1. Power up the system and wait for the
console login:
prompt on the AWS monitor.
2. Within 20 seconds of seeing the login prompt, stop the UPS daemon by doing the following:
a. At the
console login:
prompt, login as root by entering:
root
b. When requested to specify the root password, enter:
operator
c. Stop the UPS daemon, by entering:
ups stop
3. Once the UPS has stopped run the internal test from the command line, by entering:
/opt/SUNWvts/bin/sptest –v -f -o dev=se0,L=I,T=b
4. One the internal tests are complete restart the UPS from the command line, by entering:
ups start
11-2 Full Test without Cable

11-2-1 Full Tests without Cable on V1/V2 Control Stations
1. Power up the system and wait for the
console login:
prompt on the AWS monitor.
2. Within 20 seconds of seeing the login prompt, stop the UPS daemon by doing the following:
a. At the
console login:
prompt, login as root by entering:
root
b. When requested to specify the root password, enter:
operator
c. Stop the UPS daemon, by entering:
ups stop
3. Once the UPS has stopped, remove the UPS cable from the serial port b of the AWS Computer.
4. Plug a
Standard RS-232 Loopback Adapter
into serial port b of the AWS Computer.
5. Run the test from the command line, by entering:
/opt/SUNWvts/bin/sptest –v -f -o dev=se0,L=P,T=b
6. Once the test is complete reconnect the UPS cable to the serial port b of the AWS Computer.
7. Restart the UPS from the command line, by entering:
ups start
