2 Select an item and press (select).
Auto Display is set.
When you press (return) in the message reception screen, when the Standby screen reappears after a
specified period, or when you end a call, the most recent unread Message appears as specified by the Auto
Display setting.
•
The display automatically returns to the Standby screen when any operation is not performed for about 15
seconds after a Message automatically appeared. In such a case, the Message is treated as an unread
Message.
•
While a Message is displayed, pressing (return) or returns you to the Standby screen. In such a
case, it is treated as a read Message. Press or press and hold down (return) to immediately
return to the Standby screen leaving the Message in unread status.
•
If any of the following operations are performed while a Message is displayed, it is treated as a read
Message. In such a case, the display does not automatically return to the Standby screen even if 15
seconds has elapsed after the Message appears.
•
(select) is pressed
• is used to move the display range
• to , , , or is pressed
•
The Phone to, Mail to or Web to function is used
•
A submenu cannot be displayed from the Message auto-displayed screen.
•
You cannot display other Messages using , [back] or [next] during Auto Display.
•
When you auto-display a Message with a melody, the melody is not automatically played back.
When Auto Display is set
When there are both unread Message R and Message F, displays Message R.
Displays only unread Message R.
When there are both unread Message R and Message F, displays Message F.
Displays only unread Message F.
Does not automatically display Messages.

Setting automatic display of Messages
You can display the latest unread Message automatically when you return to the
Standby screen after ending a call or other operation.
[Default] Message R preferred

You can make a call, send mail or display an Internet web site using a phone number, mail address or URL
displayed in a Message (see p.298).
•
You can perform the following operations from the submenu while displaying a Message. The operations
are the same as while displaying i-mode sites or received mai:
• Register phone numbers and mail addresses in the Phonebook (see p.280).
•
Save melodies in the mova (see p.343).
• Save i-anime and images in the mova (see p.292).
•
Received Messages cannot be displayed from the message reception screen while Keypad Lock is on.
