2 Select “chat mail” from the submenu.
The Chat mail screen appears.
•
The Chat mail received from Chat members since the last end is added to
the Chat mail screen. If you did not delete Chat mail before the last end, the
previous Chat mail is also displayed.
•
If the Outmail box or Inmail box contains a folder set as secret, enter your
4-digit terminal ID number. (This is not required if you entered your terminal
ID number to release Mail Security or mail folder Secret setting.)

If the sender is not set as a Chat member
The mail address of the sender is automatically set as a Chat member.
•
The message of received mail is not displayed in the Chat mail screen. Chat mail to be
received subsequently is displayed in the Chat mail screen.
•
To set a Chat name and color, perform the Chat Member setting (see p.385).
•
If 10 Chat members are already registered, a screen appears asking to select the member to
overwrite. Select a Chat member and press
(select). If you do not want to overwrite,
press (return); chat mail ends.
•
If you cannot receive Chat mail because your mova is in a call, starting i-
α
ppli, during i-mode
communication, turned off, or outside the i-mode service area, the Chat mail is stored at the i-mode center.
You can receive it with executing Check New Message (see p.338) or updating from the Chat mail screen.
•
If you set the mova to “sound on”, the call indicator flashes while Chat mail is being received or while the
Chat mail ringtone is sounding. You can specify whether to flash the indicator, as well as its color (see
p.219). If you set the mova to “sound off”, the call indicator does not flash during reception. The mova does
not vibrate, either, even it is set.

Even if you set the mova to “sound off”, the Chat mail ringtone sounds when Chat mail is received while not
in Chat mail. Even while in Chat mail, if the mail whose title does not contain “
ﾁｬｯﾄﾒｰﾙ ” (single-byte) or
“
チャットメール
” (double-byte), or the mail or Message whose sender is not set to a Chat member is
received, the mail or Message ringtone sounds.
•
Even if the message of Chat mail contains a phone number, mail address, or URL, you cannot make a call,
compose mail, or connect to an Internet web site. i-
α
ppli To is invalidated and is not displayed even as
characters. However, you can use these functions when displaying Chat mail from the Outmail box or
Inmail box
•
Even if a melody is attached to received mail, the melody cannot be displayed or played back in the Chat
mail screen.
•
When the mova received Chat mail, the Chat mail is deleted from the i-mode center.
•
When you display received message in the Chat mail screen, the Chat mail saved in the Inmail box
changes to read mail.
•
When you delete Chat mail from the Outmail box or Inmail box, it is also deleted from the Chat mail screen.
