The i-mode icon (
) appears on the Standby screen when you are in an i-mode service
area.
When the icon is not displayed, i-mode cannot be used. (Even areas where phone calls
can be made may be outside of the i-mode service area.)
■
About the i-mode icon’s blinking during i-mode communication or in i-mode standby
The i-mode icon blinks during i-mode communication (when connecting to a site, sending/receiving
i-mode mail, etc.) When you finish i-mode operation, the mova enters i-mode standby status and the
i-mode icon continues blinking.
•
About 5 minutes after the end of i-mode operation, i-mode standby status ends and the icon remains
on.
•
You do not incur packet communication charges during i-mode communication or in i-mode standby,
unless the mova is communicating with the i-mode center for the purpose of connection. For the packet
communication charges, see the “i-mode User’s Manual”.
•
While in i-mode standby, you cannot use the “check service” function of the Voice Mail Service, etc.
■
To exit i-mode standby status manually
While in i-mode standby, press
or select “disconnecting” in the i-mode menu in the Standby
screen.

Displaying SSL pages
SSL authentication and encryption technology is used to maintain privacy and ensure safe
communications. When a page that supports SSL appears, the screen display changes. A prompt
appears when you move from an SSL page to a normal page.
■
Certificate
SSL pages use an electronic “certificate” to verify the authenticity of the other party. There are 2 types
of certificate.
Server certificate
CA certificate
A certificate that identifies a site.
A certificate that validates the server certificate. It is stored in the mova by default.
CA certificate stands for Certification Authority certificate.

Displayed pages are saved in a log. You can move forward and backward through pages you have already
displayed (see p.279).
•
The mova screen may differ from the actual site screen in terms of color when the capacity for color display
of a site exceeds the full color capacity of your mova.
