1. When calling 110 or 119 emergency services from a mobile phone tell the followings clearly:

Tell the operator that you are calling from a mobile phone.

Tell the phone number of your mobile phone (so that the police or fire department may call you
back for details).

Explain your current location.
2. Be advised that it may not be possible to make calls to certain Shinkansen bullet trains.
•
If you use the Collect Call Service (106), the call charge is billed to the receiver together with a commission
of 90 yen (plus tax 94.5 yen) per call (as of April 2004).
•
If you use the Directory Assistance Service (104), a service charge 100 yen (plus tax 105 yen) is billed
together with the call charge. This service is available free of charge for those handicapped with sight or
upper limb. For details, inquire at 116 (NTT sales center) from a general subscriber phones (as of April 2004).
•
Depending on the area you may not be connected to the relevant emergency service. If you cannot contact
the local emergency services, use a payphone or general subscriber phones.
•
If you make a call to the Shinkansen (107), a service charge of 100 yen (plus tax 105 yen) is billed
together with the call charge. Be advised that it may not be possible to make calls to certain Shinkansen
bullet trains (as of April 2004).
•
You cannot be able to call 116 (NTT sales center), other services such as Dial Q2, Message Dial, and
credit card calls. (However, credit card calls can be made for a general subscriber phones or payphone to
a DoCoMo mobile phone.)
