Choosing a BootP request mode
The BootP Request Mode field in the IP Configuration screen allows you to
choose which method the switch uses to broadcast BootP requests:
• BootP When Needed
• BootP Always
• BootP Disabled
In-Band Subnet
Mask The subnet address mask associated with the in-band IP address shown on the screen
(see In-Band Switch IP address field). Network routers use the subnet mask to
determine the network or subnet address portion of a host’s IP address. The bits in the
IP address that contain the network address (including the subnet) are set to 1 in the
address mask, and the bits that contain the host identifier are set to 0.
Default Value 0.0.0.0 (no subnet mask assigned)
Range Four-octet dotted-decimal notation, where each octet is represented
as a decimal value, between 0 and 255, separated by a decimal
point
Default Gateway The IP address of the default gateway.
Default Value 0.0.0.0 (no IP address assigned)
Range Four-octet dotted-decimal notation, where each octet is represented
as a decimal value, between 0 and 255, separated by a decimal
point
IP Address to
Ping The IP address of the network device you want to ping. This field is not required for the
operation of the stack.
Default Value 0.0.0.0 (no IP address assigned)

Start Ping Pings the selected network device when you choose Yes.
