cascaded mode:
Error queue If an error occurs on a slave during remote control, it is entered into the error
queue directly on the master. There, the error queue can be queried.
ESR register If an error occurs on one of the slaves, the corresponding error bit is set immedi-
ately in the ESR register.
The OPC bit for "Operation Complete" is not set until the last of the connected
slaves is finished with the operation. Therefore, by querying this bit, one can wait
until a measurement in the cascade is completely finished.
QUEStionable regis-
ter The summary bits for MEASuring, UNDERrange and OVERrange are extended by
adding the channels of the connected slaves so that the user can see immediately
if any of the connected channels is in one of the signaled states. To find out
exactly which channel this is, it is possible to carry out a targeted query of the
slaves.
8.7.3.5 SRQ in Cascading
The SRQ behaves fully transparently in cascading: As the instruments in the cascade
extend the basic status bits, the higher-level mechanism also works correctly: the OPC
bit, for example, is not set until the last slave is finished with the measurement. Thus
the interrupt is also not activated until the entire cascade is finished with the measure-
ment.

*RST Reset
The master sends the command to all slaves and to itself and thus puts the entire cascade into
PRESET state. All variables needed to transact the internal protocols between the instruments
in the cascade (e.g.
*OPC

) are reset.
*IDN? Identification query
The identification string is always returned by the master, irrespective of the CAS-
Cade:ASSignment ALL | MASTer | SLAVexx command.
