7.1.1.5 Text parameters
Text parameters observe the syntactic rules for mnemonics, i.e. they can be entered
using a short or long form. Like any parameter, they have to be separated from the
header by a white space. Command
SYSTem:QLONg OFF | ON
determines if the
short or long form is provided in the case of a query.

7.1.1.6 Character strings
Strings must always be entered in quotation marks (' or ").
Example:
Definition:
MMEMory:LOAD:FREQuency <file>
Setting command:
MMEMory:LOAD:FREQuency "Test1"

MMEMory:LOAD:FREQuency 'Test1'
7.2 Common Commands
The common commands are taken from the IEEE 488.2 (IEC 625–2) standard. Some
commands have the same effect on different devices. The headers of these commands
consist of an asterisk "*" followed by three letters. Many common commands refer to
the status reporting system which is described in detail in
Chapter 6.8, "Status Report-
ing System" , on page 663.
