8.6.1.3 GUI Control Slave xx
Settings in the GUI of the master have a direct effect on a particular slave. If the
selected slave is not in the cascade, an error message is output.
The setting options of the selected slave are mirrored in the user interface of the mas-
ter. Thus, the user gets the impression that he operates the slave directly. Every opera-
tion carried out on the master is immediately transferred to the selected slave so that
its hardware is set simultaneously.
Functions on the slave which are not available on the master cannot be operated on.
This applies when different options are installed on master and slave.
Measurement result display
If a measurement has been started in this control mode, the measurement results of all
instruments within the cascade are displayed.
8.7 Remote Control
8.7.1 Operating Slaves from Master
As with manual operation, the entire cascade is controlled from the master. The master
is connected to a control computer via LAN or IEC/IEEE bus and controls its slaves via
LAN connection fully automatically.
8.7.2 Distribution of SCPI Commands in Cascade
The SCPI command
CASCade:ASSignment ALL | MASTer | SLAVexx
deter-
mines whether subsequent commands are meant for all instruments or for a particular
instrument in the cascade. The
CASCade:ASSignment
command is interpreted by the
master only. If this command is inadvertently sent specifically to a slave, the command
is simply ignored without an error message.
8.7.2.1 CASCade:ASSignment ALL
There are two types of commands: Commands not addressing a specific channel and
commands addressing a specific channel.
Commands not addressing a specific channel
After the
CASCade:ASSignment ALL
command, all subsequent commands are sent
to all instruments in the cascade.
Example:
CASCade:ASSignment ALL
