Every master that has never been configured before is initially in the MAS-
TER_STANDALONE state.
By pressing the CASCADE button once, the state changes to WAIT-
ING_FOR_SLAVES , i.e. waiting for connection requests from slave devices, the con-
figuration of which is explained in the next chapter.
If, as described below, a slave is configured with a certain number within the cascade
(Slave#1, Slave#2, Slave#3, etc.), it sends a connection request to the master.
Depending on whether or not the desired position within the cascade could be
assigned, the state of the master changes to
MASTER_CASCADED or ERROR .
If the slave could be integrated in the cascade successfully, the internal variable CAS-
CADED is set and the user returns to the WAITING_FOR_SLAVES state by pressing
the button and can continue with the configuration of other slaves.
If the integration of a slave fails, the master assumes an ERROR state and then either
changes to its initial MASTER_STANDALONE state or returns to the MASTER_CAS-
CADED state in cases where at least one slave had already been integrated in the
cascade.
By holding down the button (until the CASCADE LED goes out), the user can reset an
existing cascade from the
MASTER_CASCADED state at any time. In this case, all
instruments involved lose their cascading information and return to their initial state.
8.4.1.2 State Coding of Master Device
The "CASCADE LED" shows the current state of an instrument. A distinction is made
between master and slave devices.
