The overall signal for every individual channel in the case of
●
digital generator is limited to 1 FS with "Limit to FS" or leveled to a maximum of 1
FS by entering an attenuation or gain.
●
analog generator is leveled with "Limit to Max" to the maximum voltage or the
desired voltage.
Hence, the signal for the "Universal" generator function consists of several sig-
nal components and is referred to as "overall signal" in the following descriptive
section.
For activated settings "Limit to FS" (digital) or "Limit to Max" (analog), the overall signal
is limited to 1 FS or the maximum voltage. If "Limit to FS" or "Limit to Max" is deactiva-
ted, it is possible to enter a level adjustment (attenuation or gain) of the overall signal
with the "Total Gain" parameter field up to a maximum of 1 FS or up to the maximum
voltage. If the level of a signal component that caused the overall signal to be cut is
reduced again, then the "Total Gain" value that led to the attenuation of the overall sig-
nal is retained. This behavior applies equally to all signal components and is not men-
tioned in their description.
If the overall signal was cut, then the "Voltage", "DC Offset" and "Arbitrary Peak" level
values can be viewed only as ratios to each other. They allow only an indirect inference
to the actual level components in the overall signal.
