4.119 Residual heat function performed once /
several times
On completion of the residual heat function, the boiler temperature may rise again, re-
sulting from the amount of heat still stored in the boiler. If the residual heat function is
carried out several times, this energy can also be utilized, if practical.
This setting defines whether the residual heat function shall be activated once or seve-
ral times.

The residual heat function is performed only
once
As soon as one of the switch-off criteria is met (see operating line 385), the resid-
ual heat function will be stopped. For the boiler pump to be activated again, it must
have run for a minimum of 30 minutes.

The residual heat function is performed
several times
After the residual heat function has been stopped for the first time, the controller
checks to see if the temperature differential between boiler temperature sensor
B22 and the return temperature sensor B72 increases while the pump is deacti-
vated and the valve is closed. If the temperature differential exceeds 8 K, the re-
sidual heat function will be activated again, that is, the pump will be switched on
and the valve will again assume the “through-port” position. This state will be
maintained again for a
minimum of 2 minutes
. If the temperature differential is
smaller than 4 K, the residual heat function will be stopped again.
The function repeats itself until the temperature differential no longer exceeds 8 K
or until the “Maximum duration of the residual heat function” has been reached.
4.120 Residual heat function with buffer storage
tank stratification protection

The residual heat function is activated and maintained only if it does not destroy the
stratification in the storage tank.
A well designed buffer storage tank ensures stratification.
To maintain the stratification, the water fed into the tank at the top may not be too cold.
To activate or deactivate protection of the buffer storage tank stratification, press the
+ / - buttons.

As long as residual heat is available, it will be delivered into the buffer storage tank.
In that case, the buffer storage tank’s stratification will not be taken into consideration.
