Circuit Breaker Operation
The SF
6
gas in the cylinder is compressed by the downward movement of
the cylinder and is forced into the nozzle area where the arc is drawn
between the stationary arc contact and the moving arc contact. The
nozzle concentrates the gas flow to the area of the arc, resulting in very
effective arc extinction.
