TURBOCHARGING
Turbocharger: Removal - Refitting

- the turbocharger washers,
- the turbocharger air outlet pipe seal,
- the exhaust gas cooler studs on the turbocharger,
if they were loosened during the removal operation,
- the exhaust gas cooler nuts on the turbocharger.

Using SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair ) (04B, Consuma-
bles - Products), clean and degrease the bearing fa-
ces of:
- the exhaust manifolds,
- the turbocharger,
a
Remove the turbocharger air outlet pipe seal using a
tweezers .

Refit a new seal for the turbocharger air outlet pipe.
If replacing the turbocharger
a
Refit:
- the turbocharger upper oil pipe (see 12B , Turbo-
charging , Turbocharger oil pipe: Removal - Re-
fitting , page 12B-35 ) ,
- the exhaust gas pressure sensor (see 19B , Ex-
haust , Exhaust gas pressure sensor: Removal -
Refitting , page 19B-93 ) ,
- the exhaust gas temperature sensor (see 19B , Ex-
haust , Exhaust gas temperature sensor: Re-
moval - Refitting , page 19B-85 ) ,
- the turbocharger coolant pipe (see Turbocharger
coolant pipe: Removal - Refitting ) .
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a
Refit new turbocharger studs.
a
Torque tighten the turbocharger studs (10 N.m) .
a
Refit:
- new seals of the front and back exhaust manifolds,

Note:
Check that the turbocharger air outlet pipe seal is
fitted the correct way round.
