Disconnect the battery (see Battery : Removal -

Remove:
- the rear bench seat base (see 76A , Rear seat fra-
mes and mechanisms , Rear bench seat base:

- the front seats completely (see 75A , Front seat
frames and mechanisms , Complete front seat:
Removal - Refitting , page 75A-15 ) ,
- the central console (see Centre console: Remo-
val - Refitting ) (57A, Interior equipment),
- the front door sill linings (see 71A , Body internal
trim , Front door sill lining: Removal - Refitting ,
page 71A-12 ) .

Remove:
- the B-pillar upper trims (see 71A , Body internal
trim , B-pillar upper trim: Removal - Refitting ,
page 71A-22 ) ,
- the B-pillar lower trims (see 71A , Body internal
trim , B-pillar lower trim: Removal - Refitting ,
page 71A-15 ) .

Remove:
- the bolts ( 1 ) of the front side seat belt lower moun-
ting rail,
- the rear panel trims (see 71A , Body internal trim ,
Rear panel trim: Removal - Refitting , page 71A-
31 ) .

Remove:
- the rear door sill linings (see 71A , Body internal
trim , Rear door sill lining: Removal - Refitting ,
page 71A-16 ) ,
- the rear inner sill upper trims (see 71A , Body inter-
nal trim , Rear door sill upper lining: Removal -
Refitting , page 71A-25 ) .
Tightening torques

seat belt lower mounting
rail 21 N.m
