Exhaust gas recirculation mounting: Removal - Refitting

2 - Step for removing the exhaust gas recirculation
mounting on the timing end

Remove the following on the workbench:
- the bolts ( 3 ) from the exhaust gas recirculation
mounting on the timing end,
- the exhaust gas recirculation mounting on the tim-
ing end,
- the exhaust gas recirculation mounting seal on the
timing end.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATIONS OPERATION

Use ABRASIVE PADS to clean the exhaust gas in-
tercooler pressure faces between the exhaust gas
intercooler and the exhaust gas recirculation mount-
ings.

Degrease the pressure faces with SURFACE
CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts and consumables
for the repair ) (MR 415, 04B, Consumables - Prod-
ucts) and CLEAN CLOTHS .
a
Always replace:
- the rigid exhaust gas recirculation pipe,
- the rigid exhaust gas recirculation pipe seal,
- the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe clip.

Always replace the exhaust gas recirculation mount-
ing seal on the gearbox side.
If replacing the exhaust gas recirculation mounting
on the gearbox side
a
Use ABRASIVE PADS to clean the pressure faces
between the exhaust gas intercooler coolant circula-
tion cover and the exhaust gas recirculation mount-
ing on the gearbox side.
a
Degrease the pressure faces with SURFACE
CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts and consumables
for the repair ) (MR 415, 04B, Consumables - Prod-
ucts) and CLEAN CLOTHS .
a
Always replace the exhaust gas intercooler coolant
circulation cover seals.
a
Refit:
- the new exhaust gas intercooler coolant circulation
cover seals,
- the exhaust gas intercooler coolant circulation cov-
er,
- the exhaust gas intercooler coolant circulation cov-
er bolts.
a
Tighten the exhaust gas intercooler coolant circula-
tion cover bolts.
a
Refit the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve
(see
14A , Antipollution , Exhaust gas recircula-
tion solenoid valve: Removal - Refitting , page
14A-11 ) .
2 - Refitting preparation operation for the exhaust
gas recirculation mounting on the timing end

Always replace the exhaust gas recirculation mount-
ing seal on the timing end.

Note:
Take care not to damage the exhaust gas inter-
cooler pressure faces on their mountings to pre-
vent any coolant leaks.
